[link]BlingH2O. Water bottles, obviously aimed at celebrities and rich "socialites". Ranging from &25 to $
480 per bottle.
Whoever came up with this idea is no longer deserving of life. I don't say things like this often, but I honestly feel that if anyone deserves to die a horrible, painful death, it's whoever came up with this company.
The fact that WATER can carry such a hefty price tag here in the free world where running water is never an issue, while poorer countries are pretty much drinking anything that comes out of the sewers, and countries are waging WARS over it, is pretty sick. If all the money Western civilization spent on wasted water, like fountains and high-flow toilets, were spent on actually helping poorer countries fix their sanitation systems and water treatment, maybe we could stave off some human suffering.
But FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DOLLARS for a bottle of water here!? What the assfuck kind of fucked up decadence is THAT!? Something that should be a basic human right, and it's taken away from a few mouths so that celebrities can have something trendy and expensive!?
This is just sick.
Also, I got caught in the wake of a pretty horrendous religious/political fight. You see, two friends, one a Christian conservative from Tennessee, the other a lesbian liberal from Delaware, have completely conflicting, alternating views. Now, that's okay! I don't agree with a lot of my friends' political and religious beliefs, but they're free to believe them. But no, the conservative Christian feels it is his DUTY to insult the lesbian liberal over Maine losing the gay marriage right. Then, more insults fly and eventually, it ends with the Christian being called a "bigot" and "racist". Whatever happened to "love the sinner, not the sin"? Man, it was like something out of the 1800s. I knew that particular friend had strong opinions, but I didn't think he'd push the agenda on her in such an insulting way. If all Christians were like that, I'd feel sorry for them for their beliefs.
It's not that I don't want him to have those beliefs. We live in a free society where it's possible to believe in whatever you want to believe without fear of persecution. It's that when his beliefs marginalize the very human rights of others, and he feels it is his place to demand that those people are dealt with, that sickens me. We do NOT live in a Christian theocracy. Gay people SHOULD be equally protected under the law (too bad they aren't). And denying any group of people rights is just plain wrong.

She's still sin-free but it doesn't look to me like she's having any fun hanging out with God.

Now there's only dust on the floor and interrupted lives.
Good enough for me!

2008 sucked. 2009 will also suck.
UPDATE: 2009 is already sucking. Spectacularly.
